Place the mint into a long mojito glass (or a Collins glass). Add the maple syrup, cane sugar and the lime slivers. Gently smash the mint into the lime and sugar with a muddler (a long wooden bar tool). If you don’t have one, you can also use the back of a fork or spoon). Add some ice (preferably crushed), then add the dark rum and stir. Top off with the club soda. Garnish with a mint sprig and a Canadian flag.
